i would be fine-ish with cisco’s grief if it wasnt yet again about barry’s feelings. and cisco should still be angry with him, that guilt trip was really disgusting to me.

flash 3x02 - spoilers
poor sad cisco, so sad. :( i didn’t actually hate that, though, and i liked last night’s episode more than the premiere, but the flash is starting to suffer from what i call vampire diaries syndrome. see, the first season of the vampire diaries moved at a breakneck pace, burning through plots so fast that it was actually entertaining because i just wasn’t used to a show doing that. but that was its first season and it was nice that a show wasn’t interested in lingering on all of the setup. by the time the second season rolled around, i tired of everything blowing by with no consequences and wound up dropping the show. the flash is in its third season; it should be interested in lingering on its setup. instead we’re treating everyone’s emotional distress like it’s the monster of the week.
so yeah, i like that cisco was mad at barry. someone SHOULD be mad at barry, he fucked up on an extraordinary level. even if you think cisco’s ‘original’ reason for being mad at barry isn’t great and was only coming from an understandable wracked with grief place – which i do, i will bang on about how changing the timeline should be last resort only shit like i’m rip hunter until the day i die – i do think his revised reasoning was fine. yeah, barry DOES think changing the timeline is fine when it’s for him and not for other people, even if he feels bad about it now. and don’t get me started on barry’s guilt trip. you don’t want that on your head? fuck you, barry allen. that’s a shitty thing to say. i’m sorry your brother’s dead but i feel pretty guilty about it right now, did you ever think of that? :(
anyway, back to my point. i get that cisco’s anger wasn’t meant to be permanent and i’m fine with that. i’m honestly not that interested in him being reverb for real. but that anger could have lingered for more than an episode. cisco could have saved barry from what’s his face, same as he did, and then been like yeah, i need more time before we’re good again. but if he did that, barry probably would have changed the timeline again no matter how many lectures he got from a man who looks like his dad while soul asylum plays in the background. (1998!!)
but hey, at least caitlin’s got powers now! that’s really cool, no pun intended.
