Just kidding, it’s a lamp that he uses to electrocute some guard, then says since it was only a house current, the guy probably won’t die. Comics logic!!

One Million Moms, the conservative group which previously targeted JCPenney for hiring Ellen as their new spokesperson and Clorox for its “sexual” Liquid-Plumr ad, has extended its not-quite-one-million talons in the direction of Toys R Us, calling for a boycott of the chain over its stocking of an Archie comic featuring the same-sex marriage of character Kevin Keller.

The American Family Association-affiliated organization published the following statement on their website:

Unfortunately, children are now being exposed to same-sex marriage in a toy store. This is the last place a parent would expect to be confronted with questions from their children on topics that are too complicated for them to understand. Issues of this nature are being introduced too early and too soon, which is becoming extremely common and unnecessary.

Archie Comics CEO John Goldwater quickly issued a retort, saying, in part:

As I’ve said before, Riverdale is a safe, welcoming place that does not judge anyone. It’s an idealized version of America that will hopefully become reality someday. We’re sorry the American Family Association/OneMillionMoms.com feels so negatively about our product, but they have every right to their opinion, just like we have the right to stand by ours. Kevin Keller will forever be a part of Riverdale, and he will live a happy, long life free of prejudice, hate and narrow-minded people.

Toys R Us has yet to comment.

1) Kevin got married? That is awesome! Way to go, Archie Comics.

2) LOL One Million Moms. Ellen Degeneres is still the JCP spokesperson. Cool inefficient faux outrage though.

Ever wonder what the wholesome kids of Riverdale High would be like if they lived in this modern, messed-up world of ours? Well, wonder no longer, as Cross Eyed Bear Comedy has created a parody trailer that tears the lid off of Archie comics and shows us all the sordid stories seething within.

The above video was made in response to the film industry’s tendency to remake TV and comic book classics of old.

According to the YouTube summary, “Riverdale was produced with the help of almost 100 Craigslist volunteers from the Vancouver film industry. We produced this and the 10 other comedic videos on a budget of $3,500 over a weekend. The Craigslist and random nature of this production brought the director and his girlfriend together. It also united the executive producer’s wife with her long-lost friend/boyfriend when she recognized him playing the character of Moose.”

i think this fake trailer did more to damage my childhood than any real remake.

Worth a read for the description of Rogue and Gambit alone.

fuckyeahcomicrelationships

A very interesting read!  I know I agree with certain parts of this list, but what about you guys?

sandraisagilf

Can’t say I agree with a whole lot of this, but to each their own.

Gambit and Rogue were my first OTP, I love them to bits. That’s my stand on the whole thing.

While there are points to this list that I agree with, I don’t like a lot of the wording (describing Rogue and Remy as “incomprehensible” because they have thick accents for instance) and lack of research about characters (Piotr’s age, for instance).  IDK, there is some things I agree with in there but the way it’s worded just rubbed me the wrong way.

fuckyeahlongbox

I didn’t think he was saying people with thick accents were incomprehensible, I think he was saying that the way that it’s written is incomprehensible… er, not defending him, I just read it differently, that’s all!

I agree with your reading of it. The phonetically written out accents in X-Men barely resemble the accents they’re supposed to be representing.

That said, we’re all ignoring TERRY LONG further down in the article. I sometimes have nightmares about his beard. He was somehow less creepy in resurrected zombie form.
