I think the reason Gen X’ers have been left out of the Boomer-Millennial war is because we’ve basically disappeared because half of us turned into Boomer worshippers (AHHH nothing like listening to the BEACH BOYS on vinyl before I roll over my 401k) and the other half are farting around with Tumblr memes like Steve Buscemi pretending he’s a high-schooler.
I’m Gen X, and I have a lot of sympathy and empathy for the Millennials. The Boomers fucked up the economy, and their fealty to Saint Reagan fucked up the social contract. My generation was lucky enough to not feel the full brunt of it, but boy did it land on the heads of the Millennials.
Not that it matters, but if I have to take a side in this one, I’m with the Millennials.
I think I’m technically Gen X and I will always side with the Millennials over the bullshit racism and classism of the Boomers.
I’m on the Gen X/Millennial cusp and I know who I stand with.
I’m cusp-er, too, and I don’t think Gen X got left out of this blame, it’s just that their blame - in some ways, the EXACT same blame - happened to them when I was too young to be a Gen X'er instead of too old to be a Millennial. lol that whole slacker mythos of the mid-90’s reads like what 20-something Millennials get now, only with plaid and grunge thrown in instead of apps and selfies. It’s all silly reductive bullshit that boils down to shaking your fist at young people.
