Yuletide Recs (Numbers, A-G)

I’ve been using the yuletide_recs collection on AO3 so if you’re following yulerecs, you might have already seen these. Just think of this as a handy aggregate!

Absolute Beginners - Archie Comics, Reggie/Jughead, G, 5200 words by adreadfulidea - You know that line from Heathers that goes something like it gave Kurt a soul and Ram a brain? This fic does that for Jughead and Reggie. And yet, they still seem like the familiar Riverdale characters! Excellent.

Viridian Magnolia - Better Off Ted, Ted/Linda, G, 1400 words by sandyk - This reads just like an episode! Ted and Linda at work as newlyweds. Aw, I miss this show.

Tactical Disadvantage - Blue Beetle comics, Jaime/Brenda/Paco, T, 3650 words by Sheeana - A sweet little story about a twosome becoming a threesome, complete with freaking out Jaime and Khaji Da trying to blow up all of Jaime’s friends.

Wits and Wagers - Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Jake/Amy, G, 1900 words by Roga - One of the fics for me! An adorable little story about fake dating and trying to win money off the precinct. Also mistletoe! Anyone who knows me knows I’m a sucker for holiday-themed framing.  

Cover Me - Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Jake/Amy, T, 3900 words by amathela - Jake/Amy undercover as a couple fic!! One of my favorite tropes and this is done so very very well. I especially liked Amy’s overstudied outfits and Jake’s horrorpreciation of them.

Try, Try Again (Is The Title of Santiago’s Sex Tape) - Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Jake/Amy, Amy/Teddy, G, 1700 words by Lady_Ganesh - Five times Amy tried quitting smoking and one time she did! I’m not huge on five times fic unless it’s done really well, and this is obviously done really well.

as cuddly as a cactus - Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Jake/Amy (but really gen), G, 1600 words by hardlygolden - “Elf on the shelf?” says Terry. “Oh, my wife and I play this with the twins. Last night Jingles climbed the Christmas tree! He used the tinsel as his climbing rope!” He chuckles to himself. “His little hands were reaching for the star!" Perfect perfect perfect weird ensemble fic.

home is a place - The Flash, Barry/Iris, G, 5800 words by millepertuis - Such sweetness! Barry and Iris growing up together and Iris making it clear that she knows way more than she lets on. I LOVED this Iris voice, and I love them.

Keep the Breaks at Bay - Friday Night Lights, Eric/Tami, Smash/OFC, G, 1250 words by samalander - Smash calls Coach Taylor after a few years in the NFL to share some good news and ask him a question. If you want an impression of how I reacted to the first few seasons of FNL, it can be summed up like this: SMAAAAAAAAAASH! And this fic brought that right back.

Pining for You - Guardians of the Galaxy, Rocket/Groot, M, 1600 words by tricatular - Okay, so this is raccoon/tree sort of branch-tentacle porn but – wait, where are you going? It’s cute, I swear. Give it a chance!

Gather Near to Us - Guardians of the Galaxy, Team Gen, G, 5500 words by fearlessfan - Peter wants everyone to celebrate Christmas with some weird results. I love a good team fic and this delivers so so well.
