Anyway I was there at the last Gay Agenda meeting and the LGBT council heads (Wanda Sykes, Anderson Cooper, Stephenie Beatrix and Laverne Cox) voted unanimously to ban str8s from playing DnD. It was right after the motion to ban Kevin Spacey from the community for being a creep.

I think that a lot of people hear about how many hundreds of thousands of children are in the foster system and think, “Yikes, we’d better shame some rich strangers into adopting them!”
But I think that’s looking at the problem and assuming it’s an innate problem of the world, and not addressing any of its causes. It doesn’t look at why children get apprehended into foster care. Because yes, some people are just abusive sociopaths and should never parent ever, but that’s not every parent whose kids end up in foster care. A lot of people could be better parents in a less broken system.
To lower the number of children in foster care, we also need to:
- Solve the poverty and systemic inequality that means many poor people and POC who could have been decent parents in other circumstances get their children taken away
- Provide essential medical, mental health, and substance addiction treatment for people who are dead, sick, or unfit parents now, but who could have parented well had they been appropriately treated
- Provide essential medical, mental health, and substance addiction treatment for children whose parents do not have the resources to get them the treatment they need, who are therefore apprehended into foster care
- Provide everyone with proper sex education and access to birth control, to prevent unwanted babies from being born in the first place
- Provide everyone with cheap, accessible, scientifically sound information on early child development and childcare, so parents are better equipped to handle challenges and prevent problems
- Change the bullshit laws that imprison millions of people for nonviolent offenses and keep them in jail instead of parenting their own children
- Change the immigration laws that keep families fractured and vulnerable with family members stranded on the opposite sides of borders
- Reduce the violence in our communities that kills parents and orphans their children
- Reduce the domestic violence that makes so many children’s homes unsafe
- Raise wages and welfare allowances so parents are more able to provide for their children and less stressed, and therefore less likely to lose custody of their childrem
- Strengthen vulnerable communities and encourage fostering and kinship adoption among them, so children who need to be removed from their parents still retain a sense of their heritage and identity
