Although they do kick-off rehearsals with a round-table script-reading, Engeki also spends the first 1-2 weeks of their rehearsal period JUST playing and practicing volleyball.  They do their best to learn proper volleyball form and technique before they start modifying it to fit the choreography for stage.

Usually the first meeting with a cast is greetings and script-reading, but the first meeting of this cast and their first time meeting Kage-chan and Fucchi took place during their visuals photoshoot at the Saitama Gymnasium.  So their first meeting was actually done in-costume and makeup!
