The rain was sudden; the sky had been blue all day, and through practice. But while they were walking home, dark clouds rushed in and the heavens opened up, rain falling in streams. Yamaguchi let out a yelp when it first started, rushing to the nearest shelter, which happened to be a small bus stop. Tsukishima wasn’t far behind, striding into the safe haven completely soaked. They both were, from head to toe, in cold water. Yamaguchi’s hair stuck to his forehead, and he had to push it aside to see clearly. Tsukishima shook his head in a feeble attempt to dry his hair. Yamaguchi laughed, pointing to his friend’s glasses. They were fogged and covered in rain. He could hardly see out of them, so Tsukishima removed them, folding them and putting them into his pocket.

Yamaguchi sighed.

“We’re about ten minutes from either of our houses. I can call my mom to come get us, or we can wait it out.”

Tsukishima looked at his phone. “Apparently this isn’t stopping until late tomorrow, so I suggest we call for a ride.” The boy nodded, reaching for his phone and sending out a text to his mom, who said she’d try to be there soon.

He looked up at the weather, the rain streaming down the glass, puddles as big as lakes already formed. Everybody who had been walking also took shelter, under umbrellas or in stores. Others, who were more brave, braced the weather, newspapers up and sprinting towards their destination.

Yamaguchi turned, about to say something, and was greeted by his friend’s face, close to his. He could see the drops of water slowly sliding down his cheeks, hazel eyes staring into his own. Before he could speak, lips were pressed to his, wet and warm. Too surprised, it took him a moment to react, eyes wide open. Tsukishima pulled back, standing up straight. Yamaguchi finally snapped back to reality and reached to the boy’s collar.

Kei was yanked back down to Tadashi’s level, shocked. His lips pressed against the other’s, hot and wet. The sound of the thundering rain faded, and the two were wrapped in each other, uncaring.

so i’m currently working at a law firm and the other day one of the attorneys was talking to me and he mentioned that he’s “not very confrontational” and i was like you are?? a lawyer???

and he said “yeah but in court there are rules. i can argue with some shmuck in a suit in front of a judge no problem, but when i leave the courthouse and go home i’m not gonna argue with my wife about dinner. there are no rules in our kitchen. i would die.”
