Toi’s Opinion

Toi’s opinion that Kazuki’s hurting Haruka and should be considered the bad guy isn’t totally wrong, and it’s valid to call Kazuki out for how weird and counterproductive his behaviour has been, not to mention how rough it is on those around him. But I can’t help feeling there’s a lot of repressed frustration towards Chikai in there, too.

An older brother who knows his younger brother wants something (a cat/a relationship with a celebrity/for the ramen shop he grew up in not to close) and commits illegal acts to provide that thing without thinking about how the consequences of that might fall on the younger brother. Or how even if the consequences of that fall on him it’s obviously going to affect the little brother who loves him and now has to feel grateful while also carrying the burden of worrying about Kazuki/Chikai.

Kazuki almost appreciates Toi’s attitude to him more than Enta’s or Haruka’s because Toi’s giving him the blame he feels he deserves, but Toi’s also unable to blame the person in his own life who would do anything for him but won’t get close. I suspect Chikai feels he’s not good enough for his little brother after putting him through something that he can never again be the same after, too. While Haruka and Toi are afraid that blaming their brothers for anything would only drive them further away.
