Mista remembers when he got his Stand. It had hurt. A lot. In a different way than he was used to getting hurt—it hadn’t felt like getting kicked in the ribs or punched in the face, and it hadn’t felt like a broken nose. It had felt like his whole body was being pried apart, atom by atom. It had felt like he was going to die.

Liking Giorno is worse. Way worse. Liking Giorno is so bad that he’d take getting ten more Stands from Polpo any day; it’s so bad that getting the shit kicked out of him sounds preferable, sometimes. Liking Giorno sucks.

Even “like” seems like too light of a word for it. Of course he likes Giorno—he likes the way the light lands on him, like the sun through branches. He likes the different ways that Giorno says his name: sometimes brisk and commanding like the wind, and sometimes careful and steady like low tide. He likes the way that Giorno looks in blue, and he likes Giorno’s weird jokes. He likes the way that Giorno makes him feel like he can do anything.

He likes tripe, too. But he doesn’t like it like that.

I’m going to write something about the tsukishima brothers as soon as I can but for now I would like to focus on this

Because this is more than a family tradition, I think it signifies that the bond between them has finally healed.

The first time we see this gesture in chapter 88 it’s part of kei’s backstory, only a few pages later and as we know akiteru will be on the bleachers, kei will see to what extent his brother has gone because of a club and their bond will be ruined for good( or at least this is what we think).

They don’t train together, they don’t talk about volleyball nor about anything else. When akiteru comes home kei is locked up in his room (wearing headphones).

kei tries to protect himself from disappointment by pretending not to care about anything and by putting down those who do (his first scene is him laughing at hinata for trying so hard. his relationship with kageyama and the rest of the team is just as bad).

From the very first match though it’s clear that he does care and sawamura is the first to notice.

Kei’s character development is all about healing and letting things and people in again.

Gradually he stops putting people down, he is less ashamed of caring and he notices what his teammates and opponents do more than anyone (without him karasuno would have lost against shiratorizawa because it is his sharp eye and desire to block wakatoshi’s spikes that gives them the confidence they need to win).

He is also a very good leader. Despite his being only a first year his teammates are all ready to listen to his directions because they know they can trust him (like kenma he finds the best strategy by keeping a low profile and observing quietly and I think they would both make great captains).

Akiteru buying sport glasses for his brother and kei accepting his gift is the first step towards a better relationship between them and all the little scenes with them talking about volleyball again and akiteru’s desire to cheer on him (also please notice that the first time he goes to the match in disguise because he knows that kei wouldn’t like it, now he can show his support openly)  are so important for kei: they help rebuild his confidence and their mutual trust and this little gesture between them proves that kei is  growing and that he wants his brother back in his life.
