So I just made a joke that "more women should poison their husbands" to my cool boss and then immediately found out that he got divorced because he was poisoned by his ex-wife

galahadwilder

I'm apologizing profusely and he's like "oh it's fine it was funny" and then he offhandedly mentions that his next girlfriend tried to poison him also

Yeah this is going to break containment babe.

congratulations everyone. we did it. with the power of teamwork, 63,000 of us came together to keep this girl and her dog from being separated. it was an arduous week with many ups and downs, but we stuck through to the end. it just goes to show that the best way to bring this website together is by the one (or two) scene(s) that traumatized us all as children. collectively, we managed to once again make the same fucking joke. i am so proud of you all.

The "grey floors" thing is born of a trend where house flippers intentionally redo all the interior colors to be as neutral as possible so the houses sell quicker.

Real estate agents will counsel sellers that bright, vibrant colors drive shoppers away. That a neutral (grey) space allows buyers to better visualize their stuff in that space, instead of whatever wacky personal choices the previous owner made.

Zillow and the other real estate sites are crammed with these images: bland, dull, staged neutral spaces that all look the same. "This is what affluence and elegance looks like," we are programmed to believe.

So when a first-time homeowner gets their hands on the controls, their instinct is often to emulate what they've seen for years on HGTV and Zillow: grey floors.
