Flight

Hey guys!  So I’m boarding my flight to Japan tomorrow (ha ha, get it) and will be seeing the new Engeki on opening weekend, that first weekend in November~

As usual, my blog updates will be a little less regular as a result, but as always, I’ll be reporting back with my review and thoughts on the show and the new cast, and always happy to answer people’s burning questions about what I saw!

little giant names in haikyuu [contains manga spoilers]

Just wanted to talk about names in Haikyuu and specifically the three little giants.

Original llittle giant is called  宇内天満 (UDAI Tenma) It’s a very space-y , astronomical name.

宇 u = is the u in uchuu, which means cosmos, universe, space

内 = dai , this means “within”

天 ten = sky

満 ma = full

星海光来 is HOSHIUMI Kourai

星 hoshi = star

海 umi = sea

光 kou = light

来 rai = to come  

日向翔陽 HINATA Shouyou 

日向 Hinata = A sunlit place 

翔 shou = to soar

陽 you = sunlight

So we see Udai Tenma, and Hoshiumi Kourai (Star-sea-light) and Hinata Shouyou (sunlight). Their names contain either the sky, the stars, or the sun, all natural phenomena very far away, high up. Something fulsome, full of light. Something you must fly to reach.

• Top row - Acchan (Futakuchi), Yuuya (Asahi), Shou (Aone) hovering up top, and Louis (Koganegawa) in the foreground
• Bottom - Shou at the top of the frame, Acchan, Yuuya, Ryuu (Hoshiumi) in the back, Masakazu (Kunimi) with his face in his hands, and Louis in the foreground
• Yuuya was invited into the Daily Datekou photo, he’s not sure why, but he joined in lol.  And then obviously, a couple more people joined in too.

Rehearsal!

• Kou (Tanaka), Ryousuke (Tsukishima), Yuuma (Nishinoya), Yuushin (Ennoshita), and Yuunosuke (Atsumu)
• Yuushin wrote that Yuunosuke’s photo app makes them look especially feminine in the photos, and while hugging Yuu, he wrote for Kou to save him.  
• Kou wrote that the energy in the photos kind of got weirder over time.
