living in tuscon when closer by the chainsmokers came out was an otherworldly experience like everyone else in the world thought it was the worst song ever made but every time halsy sang the line “play that blink-182 song that we beat to death in tucson, okay” the entire city erupted in excitement this is why we need random ass city representation in songs let’s shut the fuck up about nyc

i’m obsessed with this everyone please tell me your city’s random ass claim to fame

lots of things filmed/set in my hometown bc it's kind of semi famous but my personal favourite is a particular animated movie which doesn't say where it's set or rather it's set in a generic fictional town but that town is 100% based on my hometown. the shops are all real recognisable places and if you are from there it's beyond obvious

The inherent homoeroticism of killing your enemy and immediately regretting it

It’s about rage, it’s about obsession, it’s about making that two-person war your entire raison d’être. It’s about loving and mistaking it for hatred and loving and loving and loving to the point of destruction. His or yours, it doesn’t matter. And you think seeing him dead at your feet will make you feel better, but all you feel is a whole lot of nothing.

Lot of posts circulating about AO3 summaries, both of the “begging people to please write them” variety and the “helpful summary tips” variety, but I haven’t seen a lot that bring up the positive meta-implications of summaries.

See, summarizing something effectively is a specific writing skill, one that has to be practiced and honed intentionally. It’s hard to pick up really good summarizing skills passively the way one might pick up say, dialogue flow. And that means that a fic with a good summary indicates a writer with at least some intention behind their craft. Off the top of my head, a good summary usually indicates that the fic will also have solid editing, proofreading, pacing, and structure, which is why the mere existence of a decent summary is as much of a draw as the contents of that summary.

it's why 'sorry i suck at summaries' is more likely to turn people off a fic than engage them

I understand people complaining about their posts mainly getting likes and not reblogs but pity will only get you so many notes. people liking and not reblogging a post is not a malicious action, some people want to show support but don’t want it on their blog bc it isn’t their fandom or whatever and some like things to save them for later to be reblogged or queued. yes it’s discouraging to only get likes/not get that many reblogs but no one owes you notes. it’s the same thing when youtubers complain about their audience “letting a video flop” bc the views are low. maybe that piece of work wasn’t the best, maybe the content didn’t appeal to a lot of people. no one owes you views or notes or reblogs and pity interaction will only get you so far

what it will get you is unfollowed someone i used to follow would always complain about ppl liking without reblogging and it got to the point where you wouldn't even want to like his posts bc if you forgot to reblog it too he'd literally make a vague post complaining about it this was one of many red flags tbh sometimes i still see his 'why you should always reblog art ' post going around and it's like. oh buddy. oh buddy 😔
