cliché but classic trope: when the person who almost died wakes up in a hospital bed, looks around and sees the object of their affection sleeping uncomfortably in the chair next to them because they haven’t moved in days.

twelvety-cans-of-cant

You can pry that trope from my cold dead hands.

cliché but classic sub trope of this: the person who almost died tells the object of their affection “you look like shit” despite the fact that they are the one in the hospital bed and almost died.

the day people learn that they can express negative opinions about queer rep without misusing the word queerbait is the day i will know peace

#see also: this piece of media has a popular ship that isn’t canon #that is ALSO not queerbaiting thank you! (tags by altschmerzes)

Additionally: “it isn’t queerbaiting if you got ~queer vibes~ from a pair of real life costars/band members/content creatora/etc. and they insist they’re just friends”

Anonymous asked:

Hi Zoey. Asking from a place of ignorance, could you please explain why Threads is dogshit?

gauntletqueen answered:

Threads is the Hot New Garbagedump by Certified Scum Of The Earth and Facebook/Meta owner Zuckerburg. It is like if twitter was even worse.

There is ONLY a For You page, meaning you can never just see the posts from your followed accounts who, yknow, you followed for the purpose of seeing their posts. You can’t see those. you have to see the algorithm’s posts ONLY.
You also require an instagram to get full access to all the features like Posting Images. You need a separate social media account to properly access this new social media. And once you’ve done so, the only way to delete your Threads account, is to delete you instagram account. The Whole Thing. For Some Fucking Reason.
Not to mention, obviously since it’s zuckerburg, the thing syphons your personal information like crazy, worse still than twitter.

Like ALL your data. as much as it can get. (Love that it says “Other Data” btw. Nice subtle way of saying “whatever else we want”)
ALSO wouldn’t you know it? It’s fucking banned in the EU because it violates a bunch of fucking privacy laws!! So it’s DEFINITELY not safe to use!

It is as predatory and exploitative as can be, created by someone that we collectively agreed Sucks Shit and Has No Empathy For Human Life and Individuality, and nobody should be touching it with a ten foot pole let alone sign up for it. Not even to test the waters or because it’s where everyone is heading, or to see how bad it is for yourself. It doesn’t matter if you’re joining to get an account ready in case the platform ends up the new big thing. You’re feeding the statistics.
Even if you’re not using that account, Zuckerburg can show the number of signups to shareholders and investors to prove to them that it’s viable. Instead of jumping on the bandwagon in case it succeeds, inform people why they shouldn’t join, to reduce its chance of success! It’s like strikes and protests; The more of us get the word out, the more effective it’ll be!

As soon as a heard it was Meta (facebook) owned I was like NOPE the zuck just wants all of your information so he can sell it to buy more land in Hawaii

Gee, Tumblr would probably really hate it if you shared and spread this damning article … To the surprise of absolutely none of Tumblr’s LGBTQ users, it turns out the independent NYC human rights agency Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) found that Tumblr’s ham-fisted adult content ban in December 2018 disproportionately targeted LGBTQ users. The CCHR’s investigation revealed Tumbler’s moderation algorithms is demonstrably biased against queer content. As part of the settlement, Tumblr was obligated to review their prejudicial anti-gay moderation policies. Even more mortifyingly, they’ve also had to hire an expert on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) issues and provide unconscious bias training to their moderators. I frankly doubt Tumblr has learned a thing from this humbling experience. Just recently the Tumblr algorithm flagged three ancient posts of mine as violating their terms. All three “offenders” were vintage homoerotic beefcake images (softcore by modern standards) roughly 50 – 65-years-old by Bruce of Los Angeles, Bob Mizer and Tom of Finland. (These are of course pioneering queer artists who routinely faced censorship and imprisonment in the fifties and sixties. Plus ca change!). They've been visible on my page - corrupting viewers -  for years at this point. I appealed all three immediately. Only the Tom of Finland one was approved. The other two are now hidden. So, they haven't learned much. Apparently, Tumblr – who loves to declare how hip, youthful, inclusive and progressive their values are - wants to restore trust with their queer users. I’d recommend we remember their hypocrisy when Pride rolls around and Tumblr splashes rainbow flags everywhere and attempts to pink wash their image.

In honour of Pride Month, this is worth a reblog! Don’t buy into Tumblr’s hypocritical “pink washing.”

Seein' too many Twitter refugees asking if they'll get in trouble for saying "kill yourself" to people and while no, you're not gonna get nuked from orbit, that is maybe something you just shouldn't be doing in general perhaps?? Maybe telling people to kill themselves is bad actually?? Some of y'all are wild, why is the first thing you can think to ask on a new platform if you can send one of the worst kinds of harassment to people?? Grow tf up and learn how to use the block button. It'll do wonders for your mood, trust me.

sparkyyoungupstart

"kill yourself" isn't a bannable offense but it is a dick move and not nearly as funny or witty as you think it is.

One time I told a girl “actually, suicide baiting ISNT funny, what the fuck?” And then all her friends suicide baited me because “Erm, we were talking about doing it to TERFS! You TRANSPHOBE!”

Then when someone informed her I was a trans woman she said, “Oh. Well she was annoying so its fine.”

ZERO thought for those around you. Dont be like that.

Friendly reminder that LGBTQ+, Queer, and LGBT+ are the preferred terms for the community (x).

Friendly reminder that Queer is approved by 72.9% of the people, and the groups who don’t prefer it’s use as an umbrella term are straight people, exclusionists, transmeds, truscums, sex-negative people, and sex work critical people (x).

Friendly reminder that aros and aces are excluded only 9.2% / 8.1% of the time respectively while being included  78.9% / 81.2% of the time (x)

Friendly reminder that exclusionists are in the minority and aro/ace people are included in the LGBTQ+ community by the people within the community.

pinkqueerpunk

Also, i checked out the survey the second claim sources a while back: this is not OP choosing the words truscum, exclusionist, etc. These are labels that the survey gave people the option to self-identify as. It’s self-proclaimed exclusionists who dont like the word queer, not random accusations

prochoice-is-pro-compassion

yeah that’s super important.

This one gets reblogged on main. The reclassification of ‘queer’ as an inexcusable slur is a recent development which stems in part from exclusionist rhetoric. We reclaimed it decades ago. Learn our history. You are not immune to TERF propaganda, but you can absolutely choose to educate yourself to spite it.

Be kind. 💜
