The producers talk about Reki’s secrets
Uryuu: In the original drafts of Reki, he had shorter hair, and there were a few different versions of him. We thought that it would be nice if his hair was longer since the movement would show in his hair and so that’s how we ended up with this version.
Suzuki: He did look nice with the shorter hair too though.
Uryuu: We made his clothing style the most like a standard skater as we could. Skater fashion has some special characteristics, so we made his hoodie with a graffiti type design on it, and made it a bright color to represent that.
Suzuki: The hoodie that Reki is wearing is one he designed himself. He made a whole bunch in many different colors so he has a lot of them. So he’s interested in fashion and he’s good at design, but his design sense is a little off, you know? (painful laugh)
Uryuu: His pictures of wolves and things were really good. But since his sense of what’s cool is a little off, when he’s actually trying to design it becomes a cute yeti (lol). That shocked Langa too. As for something from behind the scenes, there was an aunt in the Kyan family that we had to cut out of the story while crying
Suzuki: the Kyan family is a matriarchal family. Their father isn’t home a lot because he’s always at work so normally other than Reki the family is full of a whole bunch of lively women.
