There are many new friends on the archive, and many are young and have only known social media, which is why I wanted to say something!
Ao3 does not have an algorithm! It isn’t a social media site, it’s an archive.
Posting fics on Tumblr isn’t the same as posting fics on Ao3
Ao3 is like a giant virtual bookshelf, and everyone is able to add their own stories to the bookshelf, all stored with different tags and different fandoms. Works are automatically sorted by newest to oldest, but filters, looking at bookmarks, and using the search function can change that.
Certain works are not pushed to the top like social media posts. More kudos and reads don’t push a single work to more viewers by some algorithm. Unless otherwise filtered, works will be at the top of the page based on how recent it was posted.
Smaller fandoms get less views, less kudos, less bookmarks, and larger fandoms get more simply because of the number of people inside the fandom.
Ao3 is a giant virtual bookshelf- there is no algorithm, and there is no man behind the shelf pushing certain books forward.
Happy reading, and if you’d like to have more people notice a fic, why not share it with them! Send a dm to a fandom friend and it might turn into one of their favorite fics!

SK8 trivia!
They've posted a quiz of trivia from the series! There's a total of 25 questions!! I'll let you guys have fun guessing for now and I'll post the correct answers later.
The questions are
As of right now (7:30am on August 8th in Japan) there appears to be a problem with the test not accepting correct answers for one of the free answer questions. There is one Japanese person who figured out how to cheat on the test to get 100% but it's not possible to get 100% otherwise.
I just checked and the quiz has now been fixed so you can get that question right!

Today at the screening event Nagatsuka was supposed to be there but he had to cancel because he has covid and so Midorikawa was at the event by himself.
People who were at the event are reporting that he joked that he was lonely and said he was lonely so he was going to hold onto Joe (holding Joe's manju in his hand) and do his best.

Later he got a massage from Joe's actor that he read out loud
ALTMessage: are you actually doing your job property, you wimpy four-eyes?
Midorikawa: I am!

ALTAnother report specified Joe's actor asked if he was lonely without carla.
ALTHe joked about last year's April fool's event on the SK8 twitter saying he thought Koharu was interesting and missed her but that the official twitter lost followers because of it lol
When asked about which character he would like see more scenes with he said Carla and he'd (as cherry?) be in a white lab coat in a lab asking about how today's race went and stuff.
He then talked about how Carla could have lots of different voices, even a Joe voice, but that getting Joe to record for it would be a problem so it probably wouldn't work. Also she's really obedient and so listening to her as Joe would be weird so never mind.
In the afternoon session of the screening event
Midorikawa commented that when he heard he was going to be with Nagatsuka he thought he’d have to play mom.
He had a different Joe plushy thing with him from the morning session.
Midorikawa was asked some questions by the moderator.
Moderator: what would you like to see in the new stuff?
Midorikawa: Cherry skating as a replacement for Joe, and Carla’s normal pink lines turn green and when he asks Carla for advice during the race she responds in Joe’s voice and Cherry getting angry at him while still doing what he says.
Moderator: is there any stories or scenes you’d like to see?
Midorikawa: I’d like to see Cherry riding on a normal skateboard because of some sort of crisis with Carla so she’s unable to be used. Since I think he skated like that before Carla. If he can’t skate well then Joe would tell him “you didn’t used to be like that. are you relying on Carla too much?” and he’d say “what was that?!’ etc
Modorator: Do you think "Carla” has anything to do with carbonara?
Midorikawa: I don’t think so
Midorikawa: This time Hatanaka is going to be in Okinawa by himself but I’d like to go to Okinawa with the whole cast someday
